Building Confidence Around Animals

On Thursday 22nd September 2022, we had a visit from Durham Police who brought along two special friends – the Police dogs: Jet and Ben.

Their handler PCSO Claire explained to the children the role of dogs in the police force and how she cares for Jet and Ben. This linked with and reinforced this week’s value of ‘Caring’ and our focus on Kindness this term.

The children asked lots of questions and were delighted to meet the duo.

The children were then invited to say hello and stroke the dogs if they chose to do so. The dogs (and children) were really well behaved. It was great to see children who were reluctant or nervous of the dogs last year really develop their confidence and overcome their nervousness this year.

We look forward to welcoming Jet and Ben again next year!
