Breakfast Club – Pupil Voice 2019

After School Clubs 2020-2021

Due to the impact of our staggered finish times, our team have volunteered to run after school child care as it is not currently being provided by SCAMPS (as previously) and we appreciate that working parents may not be able to collect their children at the earlier times.

Due to the Covid-19 guidelines and health and safety requirements, after-school child care will take place in the hall which is sectioned into four quadrants and numbers are limited to eight children per zone.

There is a small charge as of Monday 4th January 2021  £3.00 per child per session to cover the cost of resources. Child care will run from 3pm to 4.30pm and children attending will be sent directly to the hall once their bubble/class finishes. Children should be collected from the school yard at 4.30pm. Please wait in the relevant collection zone (based on your child’s year group). The children will be brought out to you at 4.30pm.

Autumn Term 1 2020 Activities:

Monday – Mindfulness

Mindfulness Colouring – Research has shown that colouring in detailed pictures helps the brain to rest as it is focussing so much on the small spaces to colour in that our brains get a rest from the stresses and worries of everyday life. In addition, it is a great activity to develop fine motor skills in younger children or those with Dyspraxia. Our children (across all ages ranges) love Mindfulness colouring and they all produced some beautiful pictures.

Model Making (with Mrs. Peoples) – We were very impressed when Jack (Class 4) designed a model by drawing it and then built it from Lego bricks. Perhaps we have an architect in the making!

The Stick Man (with Mrs. MacArdle and Mrs. Humble) – The children listened to and read the story of The Stick Man. They discussed the text then they created their own version of main character using sticks, art resources and even gave him googly eyes. The children had a great time, were really engaged and the discussions about the main character were fantastic.

Dance Club

The children from Key Stage 2 have been taking part in a dance club, last half term. They worked for 5 weeks to put together a creative dance including both dance and gymnastics. On Friday the 14th of February the children performed their routine to the whole school, with great success! They are off to a dance festival in March to share it with other schools in the area…watch out Strictly!

Badminton Club

Badminton Club has been a huge success. The children have really impressed us with their abilities to balance, serve and keep control of the shuttlecock. At first, we focused on balance and used the success balls or fluffies to make it achievable. In week 2 we moved onto trying our balancing games and challenges but using the shuttlecocks. As we spent time using the different resources, the children became more confident and it was time to move onto learning the serves and hitting the shuttlecock correctly. We played some fun games which tested our balance, movement, co-ordination and throwing skills. In the last session we have played a badminton match against a partner and used everything we have learned. Well done to all of the children who came this time, you’ve been brilliant.

Mindfulness Club

29.01.20- This week in our Mindfulness After School Club, the children did some relaxing yoga exercises and then made some key rings with inspirational quotes.

In Spring half-term, Mrs Peoples and Mrs Parvin are running a Mindfulness After-School Club on a Wednesday. The first session was fantastic with children taking part in yoga and mindfulness colouring activities. The children said that they weren’t really sure what to expect at first but that it was really beneficial and helped them to learn new ways to relax.

Football Team

19.11.19-Stanhope Barrington football team began their season with two superb wins last night. The boys managed to bag a 2-1 and 10-0 victory against their oppositions gaining them an early 6 points to add to the table. The boys were thrilled and couldn’t wait to tell Mr Myers. Each child worked well as a team which was shown through their continuous goal scoring. Well done boys!

Art Club

After school Art Club is held on a Monday night and is facilitated by Mrs People and Miss Ingwersen throughout the first half of the Autumn Term. “Art club is this great new club where we do really fun art. We are doing poppies for the people who fought in the war. We are going to paint them and this week we cut them to look like flowers”. – Rosie (Year 4)

Sports Club

Every Tuesday our Sports Coach, Josh Ridley, runs an after school club. During the first half of the Autumn Term the club was for Year 1, 2 & 3 children and focussed on catching and throwing skills. The club has been really well attended and the children have had great fun whilst learning these key skills.

Lego Club

If you require further information about any of our school clubs, please contact the school and we will do our best to help you.

Here are some of the additional activities we have been doing in our classrooms…

Class 1

Class 2

Christmas giving

The children made cards to give to the local residential home and elderly people living on their own. We hope it makes them smile and spreads a bit of Christmas cheer.

Nativity Play: Prickly Hay

The children all took part in Prickly Hay. There were songs, dancing and acting galore. The children all joined in and loved presenting their play to their friends and family.

Rudolph Run

We raised money for the Butterwick Hospice, a local hospice in our area. We made Rudolph masks and were sponsored to run around the yard 10 times. We talked about how donating to a charity in our area is important to those in need.

Circus Skills

Marty, a real life magician and Circus skills performer, came in to let us try some new skills. We took part in: juggling, flower sticks, plate spinning and much more. We all enjoyed practicing our skills and can’t wait to use our equipment in school.

A visit from Pudsey…

Pudsey bear came into see us to help us to learn about Children in Need and why we donate. We made out Pudsey bears and thought about how we could make them different. Pudsey loved our creative ideas.

Class 3

Class 4
