Community Project

In the Sapphire Learning Zone, our community project is called ‘Random Acts of Kindness’. Our focus is our local area and we really want to spread some positivity in our community. Every term, we are planning to write our own positive messages to spread around Stanhope. These will include a little gift which might be a picture, a bracelet, or a keyring. We are hoping that when people read our messages it will make them smile and they might even respond! We will let you know when out first messages will be dotted around Stanhope so you can go and look for them!

Random acts of Kindness – For the first part of our community project, we wrote messages of kindness and positivity and then we took them to our local park and dotted them around. Keep your eyes peeled for our next Radom Act of Kindness!

Superpowers in Action!

Harvest Journey – For Harvest Festival we were invited down to St. Thomas’ Church to attend a Harvest festival hosted by our local clergy. We learnt about where our food comes from and linked this to our local area.

Awards

Pupils grow, learn and thrive within the positive, nurturing learning environment at Stanhope Barrington C of E Primary School. Celebrating success and effort is an important part of creating a positive and reflective school community and links to our core Christian values (KFC).

In the Sapphire Learning Zone, award certificates are given weekly and include: The Ambassador Award (awarded to the pupil that stands out for demonstrating a skill linked to the Superpower), the Dojo Award (awarded to the pupil that has made the most consistent effort during the week) and the Extra Special Award (awarded to the pupil that has stood out for the right reasons such as showing kindness, academic effort and persistence). In addition, every pupil across the Learning Zones is also eligible for whole school awards. Please visit our Celebrating Success section to find out more and to see the weekly winners of each award.

Superpowers in Action!

Easter Egg Hunt

At the end of term, the Sapphire Learning Zone got to take part in an Easter Egg hunt. The egg hunt was inside the learning zone and outside in our playground, we found lots of nice treats!

Fire fighter visit

We had a surprise visit from our local firefighters. They told us all about their jobs and their amazing fire engines. Some of us even got to have a turn on their powerful hoses. The fire engines have so much equipment inside them and we really enjoyed looking at some of it and learning how they work as a team to respond to an emergency.

Outdoor art self portraits

Mrs Heslop-Stead and Mrs Davies took us outside to collect natural objects to create a self-portrait of ourselves. We worked together to collect lots of different materials such as sticks, fallen leaves and stones to create our masterpieces. The winning portrait was Iliza’s and it is now hanging on the WOW wall in our classroom.
